Blue Rain dashed across the open field. Her feet were starting to wear out. She had been hunting all day for food. She dashed to the side, and then jumped to the other. Her body came to a sudden stop. She slid a little bit closer to the scent. Blue Rain smelt a fresh, dead, animal ahead. Her body flew at full speed without hesitation. She skid into an area with trees and small patches of grass. The colors of red, yellow, and orange blurred around her as she spun a bit out of dizziness. Blue Rain found her way towards a freshly killed rabbit. She took a couple small baby steps towards it. Her stomach rumbled loudly reminding her that this was her first meal in a couple of days. Blue Rain got close to the ground. Her stomach caressed the uneven grass beneath her. She jumped high into the air and landed next to the rabbit. Its neck was painted with blood. She sniffed it; an odd unknown smell burned her nostrils a bit. Her eyes scanned the small still creature. She cocked her head to one side when she saw a small hole on its neck. Forgetting about the small hole, or how it got there, or how it burrowed through the rabbits weak neck, she began to shred it apart eating bit by bit not paying attention to anything but her free treat.
Blue Rain heard a rustle from the bushes. Her body tensed and her head shot towards the direction of the noise. She had spotted a glint of shining black metal. Her ears twitched then shot backwards when a camouflaged dressed man stepped back a little bit, coming into the opening without realizing it. Her instincts told her to get away as fast as possible. She hesitated then shot off running towards the field. Blue Rain’s legs shook a little bit as she zoomed through the field. The man ran up a bit then hid behind the bush. He rose up his gun to shoot her. His finger lay on the trigger for a hesitant second. She was running at top speed, and then leaped into the air and spread open her wings gracefully, but not on purpose. The man pushed his finger down and held the gun tight. The bullet shot through the grass jolting him back a bit. Blue Rain made a sharp turn into some woods. The bullet raced past her head missing her by inches. Wide eyed she continued to flutter away like a butterfly.
